Do you have Wheelers in your family? [closed]

I have been working on the One Name Study for the Wheelers. I am hoping for some help.

I have many of the Wheeler profiles marked with the link to put them in the study. Below is the link. I am going to start working on the first name and carry that profile out as much as possible.

Here is where the help comes in. If you have a profile that is part of the Wheelers (any wheelers) would you please put the link on it in the biography area, so I have it in the study section. Any help with profiles is always welcome and appreciated but any thing helps even just helping get them all together.

Thanks in advance,

Lisa

Malah Wheeler supposedly born 20th May 1807  Fairfax, Vermont, married 4th May 1828, Died 20th January 1874 . Married Miner Martin my 2nd great grandfather.most of this in Cutters Genealogy of North New York . I can't find any records for her birth christening or marriage in Vermont records.
My grandmother was born a Wheeler. The only information I have is what's on her birth certificate. Dead ended at her parents, who's names were on the certificate.

Wheeler-14495
Only find Malah in NY. after her marriage when she is a Martin.

do you have her parents names?? were they from Fairfield county??
Do you have the names of her parents??
I have Wheelers on both sides of my families plus my husband's uncle married a Wheeler!

Lisa,

I have an overwhelming amount of Wheelers in my family tree. Most are not in my tree here because I have over 15,000 relations.

Where do I put this link so I can help you out?? I am a Daughter of the American Revolution as well. There are 2 Wheelers of the American Revolution who are my grandfathers. I have many other soldiers who are my cousins.

Darlene

Lisa, I figured out where the link goes in the profile. I think I've added about 5 people to your project. I'm looking for more.

I have 18 Wheelers in my tree but only one of them is presently on WikiTree. In future, as I begin to add them to WikiTree I'll also add them to the Wheeler name study.

Lisa,

I have 2 Wheeler wives in my watch list. I'm in the process of adding their husbands and children to your study. There are at least a dozen. So far, several have turned out to be cousins of mine through Isaac Stearns-36, whom I'm doing a descendant study on. You can always count on meeting distant cousins on WT. Good luck with your study.

I have a lot of Wheelers in my tree, starting with Lydia Wheeler-983 who married Daniel Ames-985 in Massachusetts about 1680 and was my 8th great-grandmother. Her ancestry was tracked back by others to the 15th century at least. She had a host of siblings, none of whom seem to have the One Name Study logo. I will add it to Lydia and to her siblings when I get to it.

By the way, her husband was accused of being a witch.

That is great, thanks.

It is amazing what we learn about family when we do our family research. I will have to check further into that about the witch accusations.

I AM a Wheeler by birth, so I'll try to add the link to my family profiles ASAP.  I'm having computer problems so it may take me a few days.

No problem on it taking a bit. I appreciate all the help I can get. Thank you!

I have over 120 Wheeler's in my extended tree (not all on WikiTree yet). I will add the Wheeler One Name Study tags as I work with them if you will do the same for Howe's or How's in your tree. There have been many Wheeler/Howe marriages.

No problem Walt, what is the link for your study? Thank you so much for the help.

I am a Wheeler by birth but my Father was from Maine.  I did a DNA and found that we are from Iberia, Great Britain, mostly with some Sephardic DNA and Eastern European.  Not sure if we fit in to any other family tree. That is on my Dad's side of the family.  His name was Wardlow Joseph Wheeler Son of Joseph Wardlow Wheeler

I have a Wheeler, possibly 2 in my tree, my Grandmother's maiden name was Wheeler; however, there is some question about her paternity

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Wheeler-478

if she is the biological daughter of a Wheeler than her father's name would be Ira Wheeler,

I have about 200 Wheeler's in my tree, not all on WikiTree yet. You probably have a lot of Howe's in your tree, which is also a One Name Study. I have been marking them with just this:

Not sure why your notation is longer.
by Walter Howe G2G6 Mach 1 (16.8k points)
Walter, the category is correct, what you see that is longer is a "sticker" that puts a One Name Study box in the profiles.

The category for the Wheeler One Name Study is

,

and either is correct.

At one point we were putting the sticker in until we had a complete profile then changing to the category, but I don't know if we are still doing that.

Do I have Wheelers!

My Paternal Great Grandparents were Wheelers - and first cousins!

That caused a LOT of confusion when I first started down this Rabbit Hole.

But certainly answered questions I had about my Crazy Grandmother when I was little.
I'm still feeling my way around WT and know just enough to be dangerous. I'll be happy to volunteer for the project as I have a lot more names to enter. Just let me know - in small easy to recognize words - how I can help.
That also applies to how to add the information you posted above,
Thanks!
Michael

EDIT - Told you I was dangerous! UNLESS I'm wrong, I opened the Bio on my Grandmother Wheeler-1364 and did a quick cut and paste into her bio. EASY link to the study. I'll start going through and adding on, takes about 10-15 seconds per.

Also, most of the Profiles are not  mine, so I just copied this  and pasted into each Profile:

I am NOT the Profile Manager but added Wheeler One Name Study link to profile based on request in G2G Forum

Hope that meets WT etiquette.

Generally speaking we put the sticker in and there haven't been many complaints about it (that I'm aware of) if the profile manager has a problem with it they will either ask you to take it back out or they will take it out themselves. Mostly we get questions like "What is a One Name Study".

Proper etiquette generally is to ask, or at minimum leave a message on the profile...though I don't think I've ever done that as I followed the example of those before me.

I have wheelers in my family on my mothers side, they originated from Essex, england in Billericay and little Dunmow, several went to the USA in the 1700’s they were quakers. In the 1800s several lmoved to Woolwich in London where they worked in the Woolwich arsenal, my grandmother was a wheeler who married a whitten, I have several photos and have gone back quite a long way but it is not all on Wikitree yet. Some of them also went to America and Australia after ww2 as my grandmother used to write to them, have a look at my tree on my mothers side

I've got a few Wheelers. I think most have the link, but I will check them! You know you can do also - this automatically adds the category.

Hi Lisa,

Wheeler you ask? Let's see now...ha ha ha...we have Wheeler families galore!  My hubby's paternal uncle married a Wheeler; and I have them on both sides of my family!  And no I have not yet linked the three branches.  I am presently recovering from eye surgery but I will try to help when I can!  Best way to reach me at this time is by private message.

My 6th Great Aunt Christiana Dekay was married to a Nathaniel Wheeler (1762 - 1822); I'm not the manager of his profile but I sent a request to the P.M. with your Wheeler O.N.S. link to him.

I'm glad to see a renewed interest in the Wheeler One Name Study. In addition to the information at the top of this post, I would like to recommend reading the Wheeler One Name Study free space page:

by T Counce G2G6 Mach 7 (73.5k points)
Thank you T,

I for one will be checking your link out for Wheeler!  So far I just have my paternal line and part of my maternal line on WT.  I do know that I am related to Levi Lincoln Wheeler on my maternal granddads side.  On my daddy's side my paternal great grandmothers dad was David Alonzo Wheeler.

Hi Lisa,

I think you've already captured my Wheelers, but I will review my files to see if I have any others that are yet to be added.  Keep up the good work, I appreciate your enthusiasm.

Cheers Sandra

I have added my oldest Wheeler profile.

Thomas Wheeler: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Wheeler-18120

Maybe you can determine his first wife's last name at birth!
