Have a major brick wall regarding Willem Jacobus van der Schyff * 1850.

Am battling to trace siblings, parents and further ancestors of Willem Jacobus van der Schyff * 1850.  If one wer to assume that he named his children according to the tradition of first son gets paternal grandfather's name, then this would lead one to believe his paternal grandfather must have been Izak Hermanus ... yet I cannot trace an Izak Hermanus.

From family I believe ther has been a book written about the van der Schyff family by Willem Jacobus' sister.  He apparently only had sisters.  This one could maybe be true  if one were to deduce from the fact that the 4th son who would traditionally have been given the name of the fathers eldest brother, was given the name of his mother's grandfather.

His tomb stone reflects his names as Wellem Jakobus van der Schyf * 31 May 1950 + 9 Oct 1934.  He is burried on the farm Schyffontein, Louis Trichardt, Northern Province (Used to be Transvaal) South Africa.

Hi Lindie,

I cannot find any dutch sources for Van_der_Schijff-2. I would start by looking for a marriage, because there is a son. The details at the marriage will mention parents of bride and groom. It looks like the son is born in South Afrika, my guess is that the marriage must be found there as well.
