Greetings Janique Lane ... Great question. I've updated the sources to the profile for your review. By definition his father was French and his mother was Metis. His mother's father was French and her mother was Algonquin. His mother's parents marriage was sanctioned by the Catholic Church because Miteouamigoukoue became a Catholic and received Marie as her Catholic name. I edited the text that stated, "Catholic Metis" to "Catholic and Metis."

Yes he would considered metis as his grandmother Marie Miteouamigoukoue was an Algonquin Native American who married a French Voyageur by the name of Pierre COUC formerly LAFLEUR.
