Joe Cochoit’s post about gateway ancestors to Edward III reminded me that there are several gateway ancestors among those that travelled to New France, Acadia and Louisiana. For clarification, Gateway Ancestors are those leading back to kings and queens. Anne Couvent (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Couvent-6 ) and Catherine de Baillon (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Baillon-1 ) are two of the most recognized gateway ancestors but there are others. Anne Couvent is my 9th great grandmother and my children also descend from Catherine de Baillon from their father. Do you have any gateway ancestors that came to Quebec?

My second husband (Lavallee-92) was French Canadian, so I checked his connections in "Featured Royalty". Through his maternal grandmother Marie Léa (St. Amour) Gagnon (bef.1906-1992), he is the 10x-gr-grand of gateway Anne Couvent (abt.1604-1675) and the
Yes, some ...
On my side I have
Denise Savard-63,
Blaise-Didier David-106,
Toussaint Ledran-2,
and Catherine de Baillon-1 twice.
On my wife's side :
Blaise-Didier David-106 4 times,
Simon Savart-6 3 times,
Anne Couvent-6 5 times,
Toussaint Ledran-2 twice,
and Jeanne Marchand-19 twice.
oh yes, I have Anne Couvent among my ancestry. Missed Catherine de Baillon, she is my xxx-great-aunt by marriage only. Also have Legardeur family in my ancestry, the lineage for them still needs to be extended to see where it actually leads.
Another author worth noting is Yves Drolet, who doesn't necessarily go back to kings of France in his work, but does list the actual nobility who came to New France, as well as those who were ennobled here. Several works exist (in French)
All links got to BAnQ, these works are in PDF format.
Catherine de Baillon is my 7th- and 8th-great-grandmother. Anne Couvent is my 10th-great-grandmother, twice. Jacques Guéret dit Dumont is my 7th-great-grandfather. It's fun being among the however many descendants of Charlemagne there are. Otherwise, I'm glad to come mostly from humbler stock.
An unexpected discovery this morning; eighth great grandmother Catherine de Baillon(https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Baillon-1 )'s lineage might possibly trace back to Charlemagne. What a pleasant surprise. Thanks for flagging these gateway ancestors!
And Wikitree tells me Charlemagne is my 32nd Great Grandfather. Further that I descend from him by at least 651 different paths. What a delightful discovery over morning coffee.
