Add Family Member page not working

I am in process of adding the fourth child in a family.  I clicked "add child" on the father's profile and got the page titled "Edit Family of Kurt Bierhoff".  After filling in all the information - including entries for bio and source - when I clicked the "ADD CHILD FOR KURT BIERHOFF" button, the same page returned, but with the following at the top:

This form will add or change a family relationship for Kurt Bierhoff. To view or edit his other family members, click to Kurt's edit page.

I. add/replace or II. remove

I checked all the fields of the original form - since they all looked correct and complete, I tried again, but got the same thing.  I checked both parents' profiles in a separate window to see if the new child's profile had been created in spite of the confusing message on the edit page, but it had not.  I tried CTRL-clicking (to get it in a new window) the "add/replace" link in the message, but that only led to the father's page.

Please - someone - fix this while I leave my editing page there - I don't want to have to re-type everything that I entered on it!!!

THANX

Everthing seems OK from my checking efforts, Gaile.

Perhaps highlight and copy all your work, even place it in "Word" until you are happy with it then paste.
I don't know how to tell you this, Ron, but Word would be the absolute worst place I could think of to put anything that I want to paste here later.  That would totally foul up characters like quote marks and apostrophes, that have left and right versions in some fonts.

To copy/paste is not a simple thing to do - I already have the data and all the textarea fields elsewhere anyway.  It would be a separate copy/paste action for each of the several fields on that page.  I much prefer keeping the browser window with all the data there until someone fixes the problem.
Ah! OK.

Not experienced those keyboard character problems.
Hi Gaile... I truly hope it works out.

I added an "s" to the sysop tag, and "tech" covers everything like "bug", "bugs", "error", "errors", "glitch", "technical", etc :)

Hi Gaile,

I'm afraid I'm not sure what's happening. Hundreds of people have used Add Family in the past couple hours so I don't think it's general or new problem.

Even if it was something we could fix, it's highly unlikely we could implement a change on the page without you needing to reload it. I don't think there's any way around you copy-and-pasting what you've done in your browser and starting over fresh. Sorry.

Not at all the answer I wanted to hear, but thanks for looking into it, Chris.

Gaile, I'm sadden to hear of your predicament. With all the good things you do assisting others, it is unfair there is no remedy available for you. Unfair. Unfair!

Being an unconventional thinker, I do have a thought that, in the vastness of my ignorance, somehow seems a plausible workaround. Might saving your editing page as a complete webpage to your desktop produce a “document” that would facilitate an eventual verbatim cut-and-paste? Wishful thinking? Yes! Apart from my empathy, it is the best I have to offer.

Awww, THANX for the sympathy, George.  Your suggestion probably wouldn't work because it's still the same page it was before and, from Chris' answer, there is probably something wrong with the data in the page but the error message is not providing any information about the problem.

It's too late for any help now - as soon as I saw Chris' answer, I did it on a fresh page.  This time, though, I tried something different on the chance that it was data I had entered that wasn't being accepted.  I had the sources in another window and didn't remember the death date when I tried the first time, but I did enter the death place then.  I suspect that caused the system to cough and sputter.  Anyhow, the second time I did it without entering the death place and it worked fine.

I really, really appreciate your kind thoughts, though.
