Austrian/Croatian/Slovenian help needed.

Andre Susanj and Mary Mladenic. Their son Rudolf came to America in 1905, but I cannot find much about them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Jeff

Hey Jeff, do we know where Rudolph was born?

Have you been able to find him on a passengers list?

I have been having some luck with this free site:

John, Rudolf was born in Sroki, Austria (Croatia).

Makes more sense than Galicia since Sušanj is a Croatian name.

LDS has microfilmed about 80% of Croatian church records. A complete set of microfilmed records is supposed to be at the State Archive in Zagreb. There is an agreement between the Catholic church and Croatia to have the church records returned to the church but apparently most of the records are still at the archive. I am unaware of any effort to put these records on line, so short of visiting Zagreb LDS appears to be the best shot for these records.

Ancestry.com lists as birthplace of the children of Andre Susanj and Mary Mladenic "Sroki, Austria". The best bet for this is Soroky-L'vivs'ki (Сороки-Львівські), also spelled Sroki L'vovske, a village near L'viv (Львів), Ukraine. Львів was from 1772 until 1918 with the name Lemberg the capital of the Königreich Galizien und Lodomerien which belonged to the Habsburgs. From 1867 on its people had Austrian citizenship.
