I am looking for information about Holts with family in North Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas(?) and Oklahoma.

Question

My name is Roger Holt and I have a brother on this site who's name is Alan. My father was Jerald Mack Holt, born in Ames, OK, died in Enid, Ok and is buried in the Orion Cemetery in western Oklahoma, My grandpa was John Mack Holt. He was working as a lineman for the phone company before marrying grandma(Vina Adams) and settling in Ames. He purchased a farm in western Oklahoma near Longdale and Fairview, OK. He retired in Fairview, died in Enid and is buried in the Ames, OK cemetery. Our family came from the Alsace-Loraine region of Europe and there branches of the family are located in North Carolina and Tennessee. I am looking to reach out to relatives to say hello and find out more about where I came from. If you would like to exchange information or say hi please feel free to contact me.

Any idea where in Alsace-Lorraine your family is from? Many parts of Lorraine and all of the Bas-Rhin department of Alsace have their church books digitized and available on-line for free, but without a town it's like looking for a needle in the hay stack.

I am looking for descendants of Michael Holt Sr. I, II, II. Possibly Col. Thomas Michael Holt, Edwin Michael Holt. My grandfather was John Mack Holt 1896-1980 from Oklahoma. I believe the family came from Virginia, N.C., Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma. His father died or left and he I believe he was raised by his grandmother in S.E. Oklahoma.

From Micheal Holt of VA, NC and then the branch that moved to TN. I have visited the homestead in NC which has a wealth of information. Verbal history said we were from France but written history said Germany. Then I found the history of Alsace France and it made sense. it has has been years since I studied geneology but the Micheal Holt family was Lutherin so the records are actually very thorough.

Michael Holt, Sr., 1. II, III are my relatives. My family came over to Va., moved to N.C. and to Tennessee. I believe from there my descendants moved to Arkansas and then Oklahoma. My grandfather was John Mack Holt 1896-1980. My brother put me on to Michael. Unfortunately my grandfather and dad are both gone and my mom has dementia. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HELLO.  I worked on a family tree today for Joseph S. Holt b 1874 from Cypress Inn, TN, who died in Ardmore OK.  He is my mother-in-law's grandfather.  There were also Joseph H. Holt married Eliza Huges.

I just started on Wiki and trying to get a hang of this coming from Ancestry.com I have work of it for a year or so my wife is born a Holt and have tracked her line from WNC and Northeast GA where several of her Holt family is living or buried  to a little bit in Tenn for one degree then to Jamestown Surry VA and appears to be a decendant of  Randall Holt I her DNA has a high concentration in England Lanchire  I am getting lost in Tenn with John Marion Holt son of James Holt .

My great grandmothers maiden was Holt. Her name was Doxie Jane. Haven't been too deep down that line yet. But she lived in KY, can't recall right off if she was born here. I may have already added her on here but if I haven't I will make sure to do so.

My grandmother Helen Mae Guinn had a sister name Ruth Elizabeth Guinn from Tennessee who married a man named:  Glenn Reo Holt  born April 6, 1916 in Cocke Bee, Tennessee, died September 15, 1993 in St. Petersburg, Pinellas Florida. He has a son by the name of Glen and a daughter named Vivian. One more thing Glenn father's name was Henry Leroy (Roy) Holt born: December 28, 1891 Cocke County, Tennessee. Died: Aug. 26, 1990 Newport Cocke County Tennessee. His wife's name was Bernice Reed. Hope this helps.
