How do most people resolve issues of adoption when birth family is known?

My father was born George Frederick Musil.  He was adopted as George Musil Libert.  I have several generations of the Libert side, and have access to some of the Musil side.  I'd like to know if I can be in two places at once.  Genetic descent through the Musil line, but also a scion of the Libert line with notation to compare with the Musil one.  Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Regards and Thanks,

On mine, I put my biological father as my actual father, but then created my "real" dad as an "unrelated person" and referenced them in my biography section. Once you get to him, you would be able to carry on up the tree as normal (accept I haven't added in more than his mother yet. haha... but when I do...)

So basically as Lianne recommended.
That's exactly what I did. Listed my biological dad, but my adoptive-father in my profile.

Hi Dan,

See http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Multiple_Parents for a detailed answer on this.

Basically, you can only link to one set of parents through the actual parent data fields, but you can link to the other parents in the Biography section of the profile.

I hope that helps!

Hi Dan. I'd also suggest the ue of links thru the Bio section, very flexible that way. I had a situation where a relative adopted 4 chinese girls, one at a time. She was married at the time but is now divorced. I unlinked her and her spouse from each other's pages.

I added each girl as a new person, using their Chinese names, and they are a singleton tree of one person. Then, I linked in their Bio to each of the adoptive parents.

On each adoptive parent's Bio, I linked back to each girl. This way one can stat in one family, pass thru the girl's tree, and then pass over to the other divorced spouse's tree.

Works very well and pretty easy to set up.  I'd provide a link, but the Bio is private due to age...
