Thank you for responding.
Other research done by me indicates Rev Samuel Thomson (no 'p') was born in 1687 in the Ulster area of Northeern Irelans, possibly Coleraine district. This based on a cemetery marker giving his age as 100 at time of his death in 1787.
Another researcher has reported that Janet Holmes was born in Coleraine, County Antrim and was a daughter of a Nathan and Janet (Hunter) Holmes. They are reported as having both been born in Coleraine, County Antrim, Ireland in 1690 & 1692 respectively. This researcher further reports that "family tradition" states that Rev Samuel and Janet were married in Coleraine and that she later joined him in America, near Carlisle, PA, where he had two calls to small Presvyteerian communities.
I am looking to confirm these reports from the preceding paragraph. Any help on sources and reports would be appreciated.
The son that Rev Samuel and Janet had is well documented, but his birth place and date vary. Some report he was born in 1735 (2 years before I can find Rev Samuel's arrival in America) and others report 1738 (a year after his arrival). I have tended to believe the former and the paragraph above would support that. However, documentation for either case seems limited to family traditions or third party historical works.
I also have substantial info on Rev Samuel's second wife and descendents.if you would be interested.
Perhaps we can communicate further?
