John Shutts Family Bible

Hello Everyone, I have spoken to my cousins about who should have the Bible (Old Shutts Family Bible ) I posted pictures of. We all agree that it should go to a family member who can prove they are related. We would prefer that it go to a Shutts family as it is a family heirloom. John Shutts  (Shutts 73) was born in NY in 1801 and died in Indianna  in 1852. He also had a son Hugh B Shutts who died in Bethel, Ohio.  If you are interested in this Bible please contact me through private message. As a last resort It will be donated to a historical society in an appropriate state.  Thanks, John

Hi John... it's been a little while... I hope you are doing well :)

This is a very generous and noble offer.  Hopefully somebody deserving and worthy contacts you and cares for your heirloom.

Enjoy your day!
Thank you Keith, We as a family thought I was the right thing to do, As it turns out my late Aunt Betty was trying to do that some years back but she didn't have the on line access we do today. I'm doing well. Not very active in the summer months however I recently got access to Aunt Betty's files and notes so have been wading through those as time permits. Found that she was accepted into DAR on the Ganoe line though and that is pretty Cool!  Also lots of pictures of various ancestors. Still hung up on two at this point. Lawrence K. DuBois's Parental documents and John B. McClellan's Parental documents.

I'm glad to hear you're well John, that's the best news.  Congrats on the DAR connection too.

(I'm not sure how long since chatting with you last, but I think my name was shown as Robert then.  At the GFR Chris had me commit to one or the other and now it's Keith)

I read this and have only questions I think others might have as well.

Is the Bible still being used as a family record?

If not, would all family members feel an important part of history in so many lives, would best be held in conservatorship? There it could be made available for further documentation, preserved and accessed by all?

But of course, I  just now became aware of this piece of history, at the same time, a precious part of family.

Thanks for your comment . My goal was and still is to pass this Bible on to the Shutts family. It has no value to our family as the only connection was through a family member who had no children to pass it on to.
Oh, I just realized I posted this as an answer. Sorry about that.
D Osborn, All is good!  Still would like to pass this Bible on to the Family of John Shutts or his wife's Hitchcock family. There are photographs of the Bible in the free space of this site so the information is preserved. They all originated in New York I think but moved to Indiana and Ohio.
