I am looking for any information on my gggggg uncle Bernard Reichert, born in Pennsylvania, around 1780, son of George Bernard and Hannah Schaffeine (Kraftin) Reichert.

Family history says he died as a privateer, when his ship went down off the coast of South America, potentially during the War of 1812.

Any recommendations on good sources of privateer information

Hi Ryan,

I have done some research on the Reichert families living in Lehigh and Northampton County, PA.  Is this where your Bernard Reichert is from?  I have a George B Reichert (b 1765, d 1833 Williams, Northampton, PA).  Don't know what the B stands for.  Do you have any more info for Bernard?
