As a descendant of Jon de Provence, Sr. (1520 to 1570): He was born in Scotland and came to France, from thence his descendants traveled to Ireland and America. If they fled the persecution against Protestants, why did his descendants first flee to Ireland a Catholic Country? That is one question I have. But there is no known link to any ancestry in Scotland. Yet 'de Provence' is a distinquished title. If you look up ancestry, no one presumes to bear this title in their name, it seems but the royalty. I am bringing this up because when I first began checking into the root of Provence it led me to the Carolinean dynasty. But I have nothing more to go on except that when I was a child so many persons remarked that my mother and my younger sister looked almost exactly like Queen Mary and Princess Margaret who were of their same approximate age. But of course I have never had a DNA and would not do so without some solid lead, not just a guess.
