In continuing to get more Academy Award winners added to the tree, I can now claim that Warner Leroy Baxter, the 2nd recipient of the Academy Award for Best Actor (for his portrayal of the Cisco Kid in the classic movie Old Arizona - 1929) and the 1st American to win the Award (the first guy was German) has been added to the tree and is connected (currently within 28 steps).
Interestingly enough, his profile is connected to a very long line of Baxters reaching to the early-to-mid 1600's in New Amsterdam, where there are questions of two Thomas Baxters (only one profile represented: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Baxter-2358 ), one of whom's father likely arrived in New Amsterdam while it was under Dutch control, and the other whose father appears to have arrived in the Massachusetts Bay Colony of the British. One was a pirate of sorts according to court documentation - the other possibly a loyal servant of the crown. If anyone is interested in doing further research, there are multiple opportunities here - digging into the pre-1700 history of this family would be one. Finishing the Baxter line is another. Or even rewriting our Academy Award winner's bio would be wonderful.
