James was from (we think) Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served in World War II in Shreveport, LA Barksdale Air Corp Base.  Daughter is Sandra K Hurley, now Brock. Parents divorced very quickly so Sandy doesn't know much about her father other than that he passed away at a fairly early age.

He went by Jim or Jimmy Hurley.

It appears that the name James Edward Hurley was fairly popular in the early 20th century.  Here are a few:

  • James served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, born in the eastern part of Ohio (near the Pennsylvania border), died in Ontario, Canada in 1979 at the age of 57 (a fairly early age).
  • James served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, born 1927 (don't know where) and died 1993 in California.
  • James (1902-1957) died at a fairly early age in Arkansas
  • James born in 1920 in Allentown, PA (about 50 miles from Phila.) who served in the U.S. Army during WWII - don't know if he served in the Army Air Corps.

I'm sure there are others.  You may want to look for the marriage and divorce records for additional clues.
