How do you find folks on Wikitree who may have a close family connection as evidenced by DNA results?

Hello Pamela, welcome to WikiTree. Can you provide a bit more information on this? Was the DNA connection found using WikiTree or some other site?  WikiTree doesn't (as far as I know) provide the same kind of matching as you would get with GedMatch, Ancestry, and probably a number of other places. But if you can find an ancestor on WikiTree you can see which of their descendants has done DNA testing. This then allows you to do a DNA comparison to confirm, or not, the relationship.

Hi Pamela,

This is what I figured out.  To find a DNA match from Wiki Tree users, you must first upload your DNA to GedMatch.  It sounds like you have done this.  Then go to your Navigation Home Page, My Wikitree, down to Surnames.  Scroll down to the surname you want to compare DNA.  In that list you will see New the surname DNA connections.  It will bring up everyone with that surname in Wiki that has done a DNA test.  Some people will be Private.  Some people have their DNA kits number listed.  Click on the name on the left side and it will bring up their info.  If available, their DNA kit number will be on the right.  Copy and paste their number and yours into GedMatch DNA one to one filling in defaults numbers.  I don't understand this part.  I just put in 700 for SNP and 7.0 for Minimum seg than submit.  It should tell you if you and the other person share DNA.
