The ancestors of Charles Loyd are hiding from me.

Charles Loyd

Born June 29, 1814 in Tennessee, USA
Husband of Margaret (Rogers) Loyd — married December 30, 1838 in Greene County, Tennesse
Charles is my great grand mothers grandfather.
So far I haven't much luck in networking with other descendants. we have theories, but nothing solid.

Since you had the dates, I wondered whether you already had that information.

On FamilySearch I have accidentally found information on a parent when looking for a child, sometimes on a birth record or as the parents of the bride or groom, or even in the death notice of a child.  Its just fun to keep looking and be surprised (and frustrating).

I hope some one can come up with something for you.

Bill, have you sought any siblings of Charles? I've been successful at finding parents by researching possible/probable siblings.

There is a marriage record for a Robertson Loyd marrying a Phoebe Phillips that is worth checking further. I can't find a birth record for Charles listing his parents, but this is a lead worth considering:

FYI, my dad was born in Greeneville and his family goes back as many as 7 generations in Greeneville.

At least on tree on Ancestry is showing a birth year of 1819 and Parents named Robertson Lloyd and Phoebe Phillips, married to Margaret.  But no good source info.
