Which "Arthur J Gagne" is the father of Raymond Arthur Gagne?

+6 votes
Is Arthur Joseph Gagne (1883 - Married to Ada Pelletier) the actual father of Raymond Arthur Gagne (1924) or could it be another "Arthur J Gagne"? There seem to be several candidates, all of whom were born in New Hampshire and moved to MA (or not). Sources show the son of Arthur and Ada Gagne as "Arthur Joseph Gagne, Jr." (no mention of  Raymond). They also indicate that RAG's father lived at 10 Tyler Street, Nashua, NH in Jun 1948. Gagne-832 seems to be the correct father, but more verification is needed.

According to Ancestry.com (MA birth index), an "Arthur Raymond Gagne" was born in Fitchburg, MA in 1925. Also (US Social Security Applications and Claims), a "Raymond Arther Gagne," son of "Arther J Gagne," was born in Fitchburg, MA on 22 Nov 1925. Would the "Arthur Gagne (age 4)," referred to in the 1930 Census be the same person?

This is the WWII enlistment record for young Arthur Gagne shown in the 1930 census:

Does this indicate that we are looking at three different people?

1) Arthur Joseph Gagne, Jr., born in 1925 to Arthur Joseph Gagne and Ada Pelletier in Fitchburg, MA. (Also from Bristol?)

2) Raymond Arthur (Arther) Gagne, born 22 Nov 1925 to Arthur (Arther) J Gagne and ?? in Fitchburg, MA

3) Arthur Raymond Gagne, born in 1925 to ?? in Fitchburg, MA

All three are "Arthur Gagne," born in Fitchburg, MA in 1925. Two of them reference the father as "Arthur J Gagne," both of whom were born in New Hampshire before moving to Massachusetts.

Is it likely that there are three different people who have such similar names, have fathers with essentially the same name & birth location, and who were born the same year (1925) in the same town?

Hmmm . . . it seems that these two can not be the same person:

1) Arthur Joseph Gagne, Jr., born in 1925 to Arthur Joseph Gagne and Ada Pelletier in Fitchburg, MA. (Also from Bristol?)

2) Raymond Arthur (Arther) Gagne, born 22 Nov 1925 to Arthur (Arther) J Gagne and ?? in Fitchburg, MA

Based on the above answers (No mention of Raymond) related to Arthur J Gagne of Fitchburg, MA, we can probably conclude that another Arthur J Gagne is Raymond's father. Another candidate may be Arthur J Gagne of Nashua, NH. Again, however, there seems to be no mention of Raymond. ???

After hours of searching for, evaluating, and eliminating possible Raymond A and Arthur J Gagne candidates, this one remains: 2) Raymond Arthur (Arther) Gagne, born 22 Nov 1925 to Arthur (Arther) J Gagne and ?? in Fitchburg, MA

However, a connection to Nashua, NH has not been established. Any help on this?

Evidence points to this family as the correct one:

From YourFolks.com: En réponse à votre demande de recherche de baptême/naissance de Raymond A Gagne, vous trouverez ci-dessous les informations récoltées par nos experts et inscrites dans votre arbre:

Naissance le 22 novembre 1925 à Fitchburg, Massachusetts, États-Unis D'amérique
Père: Arthur J Gagne

Hmmm . . . It seems they ARE the same person. The "Arthur J" from Bristol is a different person, but the "Arthur" from Fitchburg is apparently Raymond Arthur/Arthur Raymond.

A second marriage certificate shows that the parents of Raymond Arthur Gagne are: Arthur J Gagne and Ida Pelletier:
