Both parents confirmed by DNA? (They haven't been.)

Can we delete this sort of junk on sight?

There is no way of confirming the parent of the opposite gender.

And it's hard to see how you confirm the parent of the same gender when you don't know who she was.

What steps need to be taken to remove this very confusing "confirmed by DNA" ?
If there is no profile manager, fix the status yourself (change it to 'Confident'), and explain it with something like "No DNA evidence presented".

If there is one, then it's usually best to appeal to them first, and point to the "Confirmed with DNA" Help page.  Then if no response, consider following the guidelines presented in Peter's answer below.
There are many profile managers on this profile .... I am not one ... but this is in my family line ... and has been left out there since Aug 2015 .
Janie, Her parents are no longer marked 'confirmed with DNA'. The change was made in August 2016. What you're seeing on her profile is a link to this G2G question, not an indication that DNA was used to confirm her relationship to her parents. I'll try to change the heading for the question.
Please note that I am on a huge learning curve for this site ... and although I want to see good data and be supportive of Wikitree's accuracy...I am heavily at work on my family trying to add carefully...still just getting the hang of citations.

Thank you for answering... DNA is confusing enough and as time passes and clarity expands, falling over this on a profile just does not help. I plan on reading the DNA policy ... does a clear continually updated one exist for Wiki tree?

ok skimmed it ... This showed on Brewster-98 ... my confusion arose because It is known that DNA dilutes over generations as a natural progression.

My comment was a reaction to the DNA note on the top right of the page.

My thought is if changes have been made in 2016 why does it not appear above the 2015 entry.

I know this is about programming and do not expect time to be spent explaining or debating this ... am new enough to not know how everything works yet.

Happy New Year!

I say yes because there is no source citation provided. At http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Confirmed_with_DNA it states "When you select "Confirmed with DNA" you must include a source citation in the text section of the child's profile explaining the confirmation method. Suggested citation formats are included on the DNA Confirmation page."  I believe you should add a brief explaination for why you deselected "confirmed with DNA."

I agree with Peter that this can be reset to confident, and a note provided in the comment section explaining why (along with a private message to the one who made the change maybe?). Autosomal DNA science cannot determine parents with confidence that long ago, and there is no evidence of either Y or mtDNA tests.

It's remotely conceivable that those relationships could be confirmed, given an extremely well-documented family tree, lots of Y-DNA and mtDNA test results establishing paternal and maternal lines, and lots of triangulated auDNA connections between cousins. However, that particular contributor has marked her entire family tree as "confirmed by DNA"; it's inconceivable that she has accumulated the data needed to make that judgment for the whole tree. She's probably one of the many people who don't yet understand how the "confirmed by DNA" qualifier is supposed to be used.

PS - I'm not sure that any of us truly understands how "confirmed by DNA" should be used.

At 400 years you're never going to rule out multiple cousinships.

Especially in America, where most of the early immigrants have unknown parentage.

The best-known are the gentry, but they intermarried tightly and were related before they left England, so multiple cousinships are to be expected.
If there are other multiple sources and testers then at least a source should be added referencing the relevant ydna or mtdna project page with the tester details and results.

And our first Gateway immigrant with both parents confirmed:

Anne (Derehaugh) Stratton

Direct ancestor of Kevin Bacon apparently, though the daughter in question looks a bit doubtful, even though she's double-confirmed as well.
