William H Howell, who were his parents?

On a census it says that he was born in 1745 North Carolina.  In the date range, 1740-1750, there at least 10 William Howell(s), 5 are close in different areas of North Carolina.  His wife is Maria?? or Daisy?? and son is William H Howell, Jr, also born in North Carolina 1800.  This person has been a brick wall for more years than I care to remember:>}!  He is a 4th GrGrandfather.  My mother (92yo) says that he came from Ireland per her mother.  There is plenty confusion separating this person from the rest of the William Howells.  I do know that Jr's middle name is Henry.  This information came from Mr Cline in 1932 with his letter on military records request.  All the Grand Son were Wheelwrights (wagon makers) in Munchie, IN.

It seems to me like you're missing a generation? I give twenty years for marriage so if he was born in 1745, in my estimation, he would be married in 1765 and have children. In 1785 his first child would be old enough to have children so in 1800, William  Jr. would be a grand-child and not a child. Let me know if my calculations are off.

Also was he born in North Carolina or Ireland?

I'm just quoting my mother, word of mouth could mean he was Irish but born in the USA
You could be right, but in those days parents had children late in life, or he remarried.  My biggest problem is that there are sooooooo many William H Davis.  Which is the father to Reuben Nurse Howell?  May have the wrong one, I do know the name was William H Howell.
I re-read my notes (15years ago) on William Jr. for William Sr  I have a notation that the father was born in Virginia, mother in New York, and Jr was born in Ohio.  Notes from Census.

I looked at the sources listed for this tree & can not find solid proof of parentage.
I looked into this reference.  If you look at all the Trees on Ancestry, many have the same problem.  I read their records, and none can be used as a documentation of  my problem.  Read a lot of books on the Davis Family.  It may be David=William=William=Reuben.   So, guessing that William Jr is from the same area, but also there are a lot William Howells in Ohio.  See the new comment I posted 9/5/15.
