Possible bug: Privacy levels changing automatically

I was working on the profile of Biggs-124 and had ID'ed 3 potential matches for her son John, Betts-281, 56 & 55. I initiated 2 merge proposals to merge 281 and 56 into the lower number then returned to Biggs-134 to enter Betts-55 as a child. This was done and I returned to Betts-55 to check on his spouses. When I had proposed the merges Betts-55 profiles privacy level was "Open," when I returned just a minute or two later the privacy level had changed to "Public", effectively barring any editing. The privacy level apparently changed automatically and without any reason that I can see.  I don't know if if this is a bug or happens for some unknown (by me) reason. Has this happened to anyone else?

It's never happened to me.  Wonder what caused that?

Did the change in privacy level happen when a merge was completed? If so, that's working as intended. When two profiles are merged, and they have different privacy levels, the more private setting is kept.

To answer my own question: I just looked at Betts-55 and it hasn't been merged, so I can't see why this would be happening. I suppose it's possible that the Profile Manager changed it, but it seems like quite the coincidence that that would happen right when you were working on it. Hmm...

If you (or anyone else!) see this again, let me know, with as many details as possible re: what you were doing at the time. I'll do some testing of my own, but this one seems like it'd be tough to nail down.

Thank you for reopening it for me.  As you saw, the merges haven;t been completed yet and when I started all 3 of the profiles were OPEN, so merging shouldn't even be a factor. It doesn't look like the PM has touched it since uploading a GED in June 2011.  I'll keep an eye out to see if this happens again.Thanks

Lianne, Just went to Betts-55 and it's still listed as Public,  Whether it changed back after you changed it to Open or your initial change didn't take, I can't know.  (I didn't check it last night after my last comment.) If you could add me as  PM on it I could get on with it. Thanks.

I just looked and it was Open. This issue is confusing me, lol. I added you as a manager.
