Who are the parents of the Drury Scruggs who married Frances Amos?

A Drury Scruggs married Frances Amos 27 Oct 1788 in Cumberland Co., VA.

They are the parents of William Scruggs ( 1792 - 1877).

There are not very many men named Drury Scruggs at that time and place to be this Drury Scruggs.  Which one might it be?

This Drury has not been entered into Wikitree as I do not know enough.

No, it is not.

The Drury Scruggs who married Frances Amos must have been born prior to 1768, as he married Amos in 1788.

I have found a "candidate" or two.

I noticed on the marriage record that S.Drury Scruggs & Charles Amos were present.

I do not know Charles Amos.  I know Francis Amos and Clough Amos; but not Charles Amos.

I do not know a "Drury, son of Drury" who could have married Frances Amos. So, it should not be a father/son thing.

  Basically, the choice of which Drury Scruggs md Frances Amos comes down one of two men. One of them was the groom; the other stood security.

I do not have basis for determining which is the groom.

Unless this is against the run of play, which is never impossible.
