Can we keep the G2G discussions attached to a profile after a merge?

Perhaps you have encountered this, but I am just now discovering it.

I see that G2G discussions attached to a specific profile disappear if that profile is merged into another.

This, of course, works counter to efforts to link G2G discussions to profiles.

My understanding is that the discussion is linked to the Wikitree-ID and thus is lost when a merge happens that redirects the disappearing profile.

Can this be resolved or can we make it known in the merge help and instructions on cleaning up a profile?

For example, we could say something like,  "One should check for G2G discussion links and reattach to the new profile as appropriate."

Oh dear Michael, I had no idea... I remember when we did St. Patrick as Collaborative profile of the Week, we changed his lastname. Sure enough his two questions, asked here, were no longer attached to him. What a shame. I have of course fixed St. Patrick, by editing the questions. G2G needs a re-direct mechanism.

I asked the same question just now before I saw that you had already asked it ...

Answered here - short answer is yes, but it does not happen automatically.   Please post to G2G if you notice these and we can update the profile links automatically.
