Based on Russell Shorto's book, "Island at the Center of the World"

Cool. I have heard that the book is very good.
Yes, it is a very enjoyable read.
The Schenectady Times-Union wouldn't let me see that page, but I found a story on the topic at http://www.pbs.org/about/news/archive/2015/pbs-ideate-scott-free/
The Island at the Center of the World “…a masterpiece of storytelling and first-rate intellectual history.” -it really is - if the show will be in true Dutch fashion without the typical American background muzak and possibly brought as an (semi-) documentary, it could make both the genres of fiction, comedy, non-fiction ... Can't wait to see it ...

Interesting Ellen, It happened to me as well when I clicked on the link.  But if I did a google search and click on the link Google finds then I can read it.  Thanks for the addition info.

I am trying this link as an experiment. It is a cached link from google.

Cached

Or this one, the original Press Release.

The cached Google link worked fine for me. The Internet is full of suprises!

I'm tickled to see that one of the featured historical people in the TV show is a profile I worked on.

I keep thinking that the more we work on these historical profiles, the better prepared we are when events, such as this new TV show, attract people to the internet.

It would be great if Wikitree became the "Wikipedia" for online searches of historical and profiles of interest.

Nice work, thank you.

Very cool! I'm looking forward to this. The book is a must-read for any colonial American history buff, never mind people researching New Netherlands ancestors here!! If you haven't read it, you should reserve a copy from your library (I'm sure they have it) or just shell out the 12 bucks for it on Amazon. You won't regret it.
