Anyone know anything about the murder of George W Webb in 1925 in Newport TN

George W Webb was murdered in 1925 in the area of Newport  Cocke County TN. I would like some info on that murder. Why and by whom if possible. Was anyone ever arrested or convicted?

Dear Bev - Might I suggest that you call the Cocke County Courthouse (located in Newport) - the phone number for the "Records and Archives Department" is 423-456-3023.

I have found that local Public Libraries are very helpful - contact information for the Stokely Memorial Library (in Newport) is 423-623-3832.

I could only find one newspaper in Newport - "Newport Plain Talk"; contact info is 423-623-6171.  You could call and ask if they were in business in 1925, and if not, perhaps they could tell you what newspaper would have had articles about this matter.

I found your GEORGE W WEBB on the findagrave.com website - his memorial # is 48948915.  He is buried in the Dunn Cemetery in Newport.
