Invisible merge proposal

If I try to merge [[Shirley-420]] into [[Shirley-184]], I'm told "an approved merge proposal has bern found".  But no pending merge appears on either profile, or on the Pending Merges list.

I've encountered a couple of those "invisible merge proposals" at random times. (I like the term you coined to describe them!) When I thought I was creating a brand new proposal for two profiles I wasn't Trusted List member for, I was suddenly taken to the merge screen. I'm sure it's a bug, but as bugs go, it seems to be mostly harmless.
Yes, what normally happens is, you go to propose a merge, you get unexpectedly taken straight through to the merge completion page, and when you bail out of that, the invisible proposal suddenly appears on the profile.

Then you can't report it, because there's nothing to report any more.

But in this case, the PPP is stabilising the bug.  You can prove that the pending merge exists, but it stays invisible.  For me anyway - don't know what'll happen if a Leader tries it.

Note there's no record of the proposal in the Change Logs either.  It would be interesting to know if emails were ever sent.

RJ, did you see that the Shirley-420 is Project Protected? You should have seen the red bar at the top under the one you quoted.

This prevents the profile from being merged.  You should be able to set them as Unmerged Matches and then seek to have the PPP status removed.

Although I did not see any project that protected it, the profile, being over 200 years can be PPP.

Contact this person as she is a Leader and a Project manager who created the Profile Protection.  She may have some input on the Merge.
