Hi WikiTreers,

imageAleš has identified Find A Grave links on WikiTree profiles that need to be corrected. There are two types:

  1. Non-existent or broken links.
  2. Links to Find A Grave memorials that have been merged.

Click here for the lists. Can you help correct them?

If you're participating, please post here to let us know. It's nice to cheer each other on. Or post if you have any questions about how to participate.

Thanks for helping!

Good Morning Ales

I am finding some of the broken links to Find A Grave could be ligitimate because the person has just died within the last 4 months.  Find A Grave doesn't post them to the public until after 3 months.

I hate to remove the memorial because it will eventually be right.  See Thompson-97274

Thank you!

Norma

Are you sure about that. The link used on page is for Memorial https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/277127787 and it says This memorial has been removed.

I think for recent deaths it reports the memorial as ok, but the data is missing. Did you make the memorial on FG and you can see it?
I would be willing to work on some of the FG broken links.

If you can look at this one is says about the time limit

Profile: Jacobson-3487

Memorial # 277340115

URL: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/277340115?search=true

Its hard to read because it's faint but it explains why this one was deleted.  Some have been merged and that's what the message is.  And for those that have been deleted you get a search page.  I gave you the incorrect memorial #

I have been working on the FaG challenge and have a question. I am not sure what to do with the sources that are not clearly identified such as this:  Source: [[#S29526]]. Should I move these to research notes? Need assistance to resolve this. Thank you!

Something like #S12345 looks like it came from a GEDCOM import. Try using the GEDCOM cleanup tool. Yes, any real info that could be used for sourcing can be put under the == Research Notes == heading. Thanks for working on this!
Thank you for your help!

I didn't know that some FaG entries were not contributed.  I am finding quite a few empty ones, all in the old format, and had assumed that they were in the standard profile when it was created, and simply overlooked.

I am finding more than a dozen memorials have been removed from Saint Joseph Cemetery  in Thibodaux, Lafourche Parish, Louisiana.  I have contacted Findagrave to check into it but they responded that they have a backlog, so it may take awhile for it to be checked out. I am skipping them for now.

I fixed a few this morning. A lot of merging has been going on with findagrave and it reflects over to WT. I added a couple of WT flowers to Findagrave profiles if the WT profile looked "good." I added the birth/death locations, bio, cleaned gedjunk, etc. It may not seem like much, but every bit helps the tree.
