George W. Morris was born 18 Jun 1830 in Kentucky to the parents Presley B. Morris (1797-1839)and Patience Burke (1798-1853). He died 21 Apr 1865 in Trafalgar, Johnson Co. Indiana.

He married Eleanor Jones (1832-1901)on 18 Sep 1852 in Johnson County, Indiana. There were six children: Sarah E. Morris (1854-1940), Columbus H. Morris (1856-1902), George Francis Morris (1858-1922), John L. Morris (1859-1888), Laura Eleanor Morris (1862-1899)and Andrew Jackson Morris (1864-?).

George enlisted in the Civil War on 9 Jan 1864. He was in Company H, Indiana 9th Cavalry Regiment, Co H 121 Reg 9 Ind Cav As a matter of policy he was mustered out on 02 Apr 1865.

His wife Eleanor applied for Civil War Pension on 16 May 1865, about a six weeks after he was mustered out of service.
