Has been a while and with summer and the start of the school year behind us I just wanted to say hello and share our freespace page that I just updated.

We have had many profiles add the template and are slowly growing our project here.

Would love to see more profiles created.

Would anyone care to share their ancestors profile with us all?

Please visit our Freespace page and also our project page http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:The_Great_War_1914-1918

If you are interested in becoming a project participant just drop me a line or post here...Jacky

I've just put the template on this profile

http://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Deeley-33&public=1

but looking around I see there are other projects such as this one http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Killed_in_Action  so not certain whether this one is the 'right' one. I'm a bit confused as to why (and if) the same event should be in two projects.

A person can be put under more than one project.
Thank you Jacky.

I have been creating profiles from a book I own of those soldiers who were killed in action and who also served from Wells County, North Dakota, including my grandfather, who was blinded during the war. My goal is to eventually add all those that fought from the state of North Dakota.

I'm a bit confused as to which categories we should be adding to these profiles. I have been adding the KIA template for the Roll of Honor project and found this page for categories; http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:World_War_I_US_Veterans for the Great War, but since the list of states is incomplete, I don't know if these are the correct categories to use. Any guidance would be appreciated. (happy face).

From what I understand is If the category exist we can use it.

Are you also adding the Great war template to your profiles?

I bet we all including me would love to see them.

I have the Roll of Honor template for those that were killed, but will add the Great War template for those that don't have it.Here are some of the profiles I've done so far. I made note of their parents but haven't started creating family profiles to connect them to the greater tree yet;

Will try to add some more; spending my very limited time merging profiles. Have no clue why folks are adding multiple people already in this system and request a merge that I need to correlate. At any rate, will do my best to add additional soldiers. Thanks for the reminder.

Is there a sub project for child soldiers? I have a great? uncle who was fighting before he was 18, and I know theres been a lot of research about these soldiers. It would be nice to group them together.

(He was James McLoughlin, fought with the 1/8th Leeds Rifles, http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/McLoughlin-190)

To my knowledge at the moment there is not. however if you would like to  gather information on child soldiers and start a freespace project we can make it a subproject. I will assist  you where I can...Jacky
