Hi, on my new member start-up entry for my grandfather is

spelled "Gearen"

His father's name is spelled " Geren"

The application form will not accept different spelling.

What to do?

I don't get this, DeaAnn.  I have several early ancestors where the spelling of the name changed with later generations.  It's never been a problem.  What do you mean by, "The application form will not accept different spelling"?  What application form?  If you can point us at the ancestor's page, maybe we can help.

Please excuse my grandfather question.

I corrected my mistake.

Thank-you

Still lost.  Tell us exactly what you're doing that doesn't work.  Are you starting from your own new profile?  What do you do from there?
DeaAnn's confusion might just have stemmed from the "auto fill" of the last name. That is, if you add a father from someone's page it will guess that the surname is the same and fill that it for you automatically. You can, of course, edit it, but that might not be clear at first.
