Dave: would you kindly share the revolutionary war info? I have never found that. I did find the marriage bond between Swanson and Anna last year when I went down to Bracken Co, KY and posted it on Ancestry. I also have the 1800 tax lists from Fayette KY which lists also a John C. Brown, Wm Brown, Samuel Brown, Dr. Samuel Brown, James Brown and another John Brown all of Fayette as well as Swanson. Since these are heads of households I am guessing they must be 20 years old and since KY wasn't a state till 1793 it was a new territory and soliders were given land as payment. I also find in Clarke Co. which is nearby in 1810 John Brown, William and Maximillion Brown.
I was thinking that perhaps there were 3 Swanson Browns generations. One of the census reports state he was from VA. but that was after they moved to Ohio across the river which wasn't very wide at the time.
I have never found anything on Polly either. She is listed in a book. Perhaps we are only looking at 2 generations of Swanson and not 3 as I was thinking. I do believe that William Woodsides Brown is Polly's son with Swanson. I am thinking Swanson fought in Scotland during the 1746 Culloden war with England. But cannot find any listing of the prisoners sent to America.
Hope this helps.
