I am looking for Polly Woodside who married Swanson Brown. I believe they immigrated from Scotland. I believe she was born around 1733. They lived in Clark KY in 1800. They would be my 4th great grandparents.  They had a son Swanson who married Anna Lawson daughter of Jeremiah Lawson in Bracken Co., KY..Any help would be appreciated.

"Kentucky, County Marriages, 1797-1954," database with images, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:V5ZC-9P6 : accessed 25 October 2015), Swanson Brown and Anna Lawson, 07 Jun 1820; citing p. , Bracken, Kentucky, United States, Madison County Courthouse, Richmond; FHL microfilm 344,098.

Susan, I am interested in this Swanson Brown b1728 and married Polly Woodside.  Swanson is listed as a Rev. War Soldier from Fauqier co va. and was a sargent.  He is listed in 1820 and 1830 Bracken co. census.  In 1830 he is living near my 4x grandfather Thornton Brown. It could be Thornton is a relative of Swanson.  I have never found any info on Polly.  I have seen a son  named William Woodside Brown and a daughter named Elinore who died 1855 in Bracken.
Dave: would you kindly share the revolutionary war info? I have never found that. I did find the marriage bond between Swanson and Anna last year when I went down to Bracken Co, KY and posted it on Ancestry. I also have the 1800 tax lists from Fayette KY which lists also a John C. Brown, Wm Brown, Samuel Brown, Dr. Samuel Brown, James Brown and another John Brown all of Fayette as well as Swanson.  Since these are heads of households I am guessing they must be 20 years old and since KY wasn't a state till 1793 it was a new territory and soliders were given land as payment. I also find in Clarke Co. which is nearby in 1810 John Brown, William and Maximillion Brown.

I was thinking that perhaps there were 3 Swanson Browns generations. One of the census reports state he was from VA. but that was after they moved to Ohio across the river which wasn't very wide at the time.

I have never found anything on Polly either. She is listed in a book. Perhaps we are only looking at 2 generations of Swanson and not 3 as I was thinking. I do believe that William Woodsides Brown is Polly's son with Swanson. I am thinking Swanson fought in Scotland during the 1746 Culloden war with England. But cannot find any listing of the prisoners sent to America.

Hope this helps.

Susan send me a email to nalpro@cbcast.com   Just google Swanson Brown rev. War Soldier from Va.  Swanson bought 125a on Sumerduck Run in Va about  1796.
