Possible 1776 Project profile

Question

Posting for follow up by the 1776 group:

Doing some arborist work, ran across Aaron Mercer, said to be a Revolutionary patriot from Virginia.  I added his NSSAR template and a short bio, but his bio could use additional work.

One thing that needs additional research is his wife's name.  Sources on his profile name her Elizabeth Carr, NSSAR lists her Elizabeth Edward.  Maybe she remarried after his death?

Dear Andrea,

   I just checked the NSDAR database, where Aaron Mercer is patriot #A077451.  His wife Elizabeth has no surname displayed in his file.  An accepted lineage descends from Aaron & Elizabeth's daughter Sarah (Mercer) Miller.

Thank you Nanette, I added that source reference to his profile.  Which brings up (another) conflicting date of birth.  What are the odds we have two revolutionary "Captain Aaron Mercer of Virginia, born 1746, husband of Elizabeth" who died a month apart in Hamilton County Ohio?

The DAR date of 7 Jan 1801 is actually ANTE 1801 which means before 1801.  This means that in the DAR application, their source information only confirms that he died before 7 Jan 1801.  So this is not really in conflict.  If someone wanted to, they could purchase the DAR application and Source Records to see what they have.

Hummm... Mercer is one of my ancestry lines.  There is a Captain Aaron Mercer buried in Columbia Baptist Cemetery, located in Cincinnati, Ohio.. The Cenetery has had a name change and is now Pioneer Memorial Cenetery... located at... 16S E 722328 N 4331741.. his stone reads, "In Memory of Aaron Mercer who departed this life on 10 Dec 1800. Aged 51 years.  He has the Rev War Vet Marker... I also located him on Find A Grave.. memorial 11339080. He is believed to have married Eluzabeth Carr. But I haven't been able to locate proof.
