Dont know her parents names.  She would have  married STephen Sitler and had a daughter Alice Virginia in 1916 but she wasn't in her life I believe.  Thanks.

THIS WAS A HARD ONE!  I have spent more than a few hours trying to find your ALICE McGRATH SITLER that was born in late 1890's in New York.

I did find STEPHEN and ALICE SITLER on the 1915 New York City Census:

Head of household, STEPHEN SITLER, age 24, occupation is "elevator runner".

Wife, ALICE SITLER, age 18, occupation is "housework".

If you use ALICE's age on this Census, it would make her birth date approximately 1897.  Is this the data you used to determine her birth date?

Census takers make mistakes - perhaps ALICE's age was not exactly 18 years.  I could not find a ALICE McGRATH born about 1897 in New York City.

On the 1900 Manhattan, New York Census is a ALICE McGRATH, age 10, born July 1893 in New York; her parents are JAMES M McGRATH and MARY McGRATH.

Perhaps this is your ALICE McGRATH.

I also cannot find anything on ALICE McGRATH SITLER after the 1915 Census - I tried every trick I know with no results!

It appears that ALICE VIRGINIA SITLER's father, STEPHEN, had little to do with her either, as I find ALICE living with her father's mother, MINNIE, and father's step father, ALFRED HOPPE on the 1925 and 1930 New York, New York Census's.

I will keep looking!  Sincerely, Melinda

I thank you both for helping!!

This has been very hard!  Alice Virginia Sitler was my husband's grandmother and she never talked about her family in New York.  Nobody knew anything about them.  They did know that she had had a first husband and family when she met my husband's grandfather.  My father-in-law said she told him one time he had a half sister named Veronica and a brother but he couldn't remember the brothers name.  In researching I found an Alice Sitler who married a Michael Kuzmiak in 1935.  In the 1940 census Michael and Alice with a daughter named Veronica are living with Alfred Hoppe.

I then discovered her father was Stephen Sitler and like you have no idea what happens to him after 1915.  I do believe I have the right parents for her.

I ordered the marriage record of Alice Virginia and Michael Kuzmiak and that is where I found her mother's name Alice McGrath.  I had hoped I would be able to find out what happened but haven't.  I had hoped going through her mother's maiden name would help because it seems I've tried everthing through the Sitler surname.

Thank you both again!!

Can anyone tell me how and if you are able to get divorce records.  There has to be a divorce between Alice Virgina and Michael Kuzmiak.  My father-in-law would love to know if his half sister and we believe a half brother are still alive.
