Hi, I've been working on a Naylor family in Leeds and I am struggling to identify Joshua Naylor's family (1778, Leeds). On his profile I have listed the questions and the relations I am uncertain about.

If anyone has any extra information or experience in working these out, please have a look.

Thanks

You list Joshua's birth as before 19 April 1778, with his father also Joshua.

This is the extract of the west Yorkshire Baptisms, Marriages & Burials 1512-1812:

Name:    Joshua Naylor
Birth Date:    17 Feb 1778
Event Date:    19 Apr 1778
Event Type:    Baptism
Parish:    Leeds, St Peter
Father's name:    Wm Naylor

Ancestry's transcriptions are useless - you have to look at the scanned image.

In this case, the transcriber seems to have managed to mix up the line with the following line.

The IGI transcription is correct - Joshua's father is Joshua.  Correct DoB is Mar 16, and residence Woodhouse.

That's one out of 18 baptisms that day.  There are 178 pages of records for 1778 - big pages.
Not always useless!

Having viewed the scanned image on ancestry, the date of birth is given 16 March 1778, (of Woodhouse [ a part of Leeds]) , father Joshua Naylor.

My apologies.

Ron
Thanks RJ and Ron for the birth date of Joshua, I wouldn't have been able to get that otherwise.

Have you come across any other Joshua's of a similar age, as I have only seen one another (in addition to his own son) so I am confused by the marriage and christening records what look like there is more than those three.
Yes, there are three other Joshua Naylors.

One born Leeds, Chapel Allerton, around 1775 (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JW85-959)

Another, a little more distant, Luddenden, Halifax 1778 (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:J9R5-2HD)

Third, the more distant, Emley, Huddersfield, 1779 (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NPBP-9JS)
