Michael Barnes - Pacific Northwest - 1859 - is there any history on him?

Michael Barnes moved Westward in 1852 with Elisha Ping ( who became Territorial Commissioner in Washington Territory), and married his daughter Jemima Ann Ping 12/9/1859.  They were 16-17yrs old at the time. They had a son Edward Lincoln Barnes, born 1864 - 1945, and daughter, Mary 1862 - 1881. Jemima Ann then married Simon Critchfield in 1868 and had 3 more children.  But no mention of the reason Michael was not married to her anymore has shown up.

The Ping family tree has Michael on it, but no info on him, and I cannot find out anything about him anywhere.  It's just like he disappeared.

Any help would be appreciated.
