I have uploaded a .pdf but when I click on the .pdf image it does not show the document but instead gives me a chance to save it!

I did this twice, but the same problem each time.

It is a transcription of a Bible record.

You must have fixed it.  I can see it on the profile just fine.
I think you are seeing the .jpg, not the .pdf (which is larger and clearer).

When you click through to images it is there; but you have to download it, when I tried I discovered I can't open it.  It says: Acrobat could not open 'Snider-441-2.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged etc.

I did a search and found this post which may be helpful to you http://www.wikitree.com/g2g/169895/adding-pdf-file

Well, I changed the file name slightly and uploaded it to his son's profile (Snider-440) and linked to it there and it works just fine now.

Hi Patricia,

I am trying to do the same thing with a pdf file, but without success. I copied the coding you use at Mathias's page:

'''''For a larger, clearer version, click [http://www.wikitree.com/photo.php/5/58/Snider-440.pdf here].'''''

changing the filename to my pdf file, but clicking results in

Access Denied

You need to log in to access files on this server.

How did you arrive at your coding, especially the /photo.php/5/58 part?

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated!

I find that copying another filename and trying to substitute the information does not always work.

Instead, try this.

Click on your images tab.

Click on the image of the .pdf you want to link to.

It will come up in the principal editing position (if you know what I mean)  so that now, if you click on it again, you will open it.

Highlight and copy the url,

Go back to the profile of the person  you're working on.

Then, in edit mode, paste it into the proper place in the "For a larger, clearer version . . . " sentence.

See if that works.

Good luck!!

Pat
