Jacob married Sarah Hibbard around 1830. He died in the 1890s in Allegan County, Michigan.
Jacob's father's name was allegedly Ansel Haight. Jacob and Sarah got married in Onondaga County, New York. Jacob Haight worked on the Erie Canal. The family moved to Allegan County, Michigan around 1860. One daughter stayed in New York and one son, William, lived most of his adult life in Barrie County, Ontario.

Two sons, Gilbert and Horace, died in the Civil War or right after.
