Yeah - it was pretty special to be able to visit it. Then, years later (1996), when we were moving cross country from Maryland to San Diego, I just blindly sent a note to "The Milliken House" to see if it was still there, and if the folks in it would be willing to meet us. They were - and it was lovely! It was during Christmas, and they'd decorated it for the local "Christmas Walk." They showed us all the renovations (i.e; replace the stone foundation my great grandfather'd put in with cement!) and changes, and I was able to tell them some of the stories of the house and family. We had a great lunch, and I found out that in renovating the 'sunroom' into the family room, they'd found a trunk of old love letters from my great aunt Lina (who never married because her brothers didn't approve of the young man) to/from a local gentleman. I later met the local town 'historian' of Lewisville, and he said that the gentleman was his uncle - so we were almost related by marriage! The fun part of genealogy! Oh - for some reason, I picked up recently that it's now a B&B, but I haven't verified that.
