Should William Hedge be tagged as a gateway ancestor? [closed]

It looks like recent research has confirmed this guy goes back to royalty. Isn't there some template for that?

no. He's not listed in Richardson's Magna Carta Ancestry as a Gateway Ancestor (just looked through the H's in the index/front of Vol 1 - no "Hedge" or anything close).

Are you thinking of the Questionable Gateway Ancestors category? I just recently working on a profile that was removed from Gateway Ancestors category because, although he was Royal Ancestry, he was not a lineal descendant of a Magna Carta surety baron. If there is a category for Royal descent, I haven't heard of it, but I'm more focused on MC descent.

Liz, a 2013 NEHG Register (vol 167, starting on page 165) article identified his origins. It says among other things:

"New research has allowed additional paternal and maternal ancestry of Captain Hedge to be traced back to the reign of Henry VIII."

Oh... never mind. It doesn't connect him TO Henry VIII-- just to the time period of the reign of Henry VIII.
