It would help if you set up a WikiTree profile for James Twitchings. I found one James Twitchings on the 1911 cencus:

1911 census for 34 Warrenhurst Road Fleetwood, Fleetwood, Lancashire, England :  James Twqitchings , Head ,  Married, Male, Age 38, Ships Fireman, Birth place Coventry, Warwickshire, England .He has a wife called Martha & five stepchildren.

Good answer he comes from a family of watchmakers but not the man I referred to who came from Devonshire.

I have come by his tree of 8 generations spanning both UK and USA and would like to set it up but need advice as to how this should be done.

The watchmakers I am gathering detail now as part of my one name study and when I have more I shall submit here also.
