We have been told Mary Ann Stillwell (3/8/1787-8/24/1868) married (1803) jacob miller (1784?-12/1/1817) but dates keep changing, so I don't know If I'm climbing up right tree.I believe a fact is Mary Ann married Pearce; she is buried Fayette Co IL- Pearce Cementary. Her father is listed as John. I found Jacob & John's revolution pensions. She is not listed as a child (Jane Aspey widow) or list Jacob as her son. Rumor is Jacob and Mary Ann were native Americans from Burke? NC. My tree is stumped.

For those who have access to Ancestry.com, I have worked for about 20 years on Mary Ann "Polly" Stilwell's story.  It likely answers many of the questions about her life which is a rich story indeed.  There are still mysteries to uncover, but it provides answers to other often posted questions about her.

It can be found under her name at the Miller Weber Schaf Kessler family tree.

I know you posted this a couple of years ago and I hope this can reach you now.  I have written a comprehensive story about Mary Ann Stilwell Miller Pearce which can be found in the Miller Weber Schaf Kessler family Tree on Ancestry.com.  If you are not a member, please email me at aliaaura@yahoo.com.  Mary Ann's story is one of courage, sadness and finally a level of peace once she reached Illinois.  She was my great-great-great grandmother.  And yes, I do believe she was part Native American.  However, her husband, Jacob Miller, was not.
