Was the name Kincheloe ever shortened to just KINCH?

There was an instance when a member if the Kincheloe family had the nickname "Kinch".  He was a pilot in the Korean conflict and subsequently became a test pilot.  He was said to have been the first to break the sound barrier.  The was a small military station in Michigan that bears his name.
