Looking for any info on Charles Hurley born 1850 unknown, died 1934 in Adelaide, South Australia. Son, Charles Henry Hurley, born 1896 in Adelaide, SA. Mothers name Alice Maud Havers born 1856 died 1934 Adelaide, SA. No known info on where and when they came to Australia. Two family stories are known, one states that Charles was a taxi driver and knew London like the back of his hand and the other was he was born and lived in County Cork, Ireland. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I did a bit of searching, not much on trove only articles to do with courts from NSW and VIC ( http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/188107831?searchTerm=%22charles%20hurly%22,&searchLimits=dateFrom=1850-01-01|||dateTo=1934-12-31, http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/191928752?searchTerm=%22charles%20hurly%22,&searchLimits=dateFrom=1850-01-01|||dateTo=1934-12-31, http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/71554699?searchTerm=%22charles%20hurly%22,&searchLimits=dateFrom=1850-01-01|||dateTo=1934-12-31 )

On FamilySearch lots of Charles Hurley's born, lots in London too, on the 1841 census there is 11, 52 in 1851. There is also a Charles Hurley who married an Alice Maud but she's a Whitehouse.

also don't know if you already have this about Charles Henry, ( from http://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/SearchNRetrieve/Interface/DetailsReports/ItemDetail.aspx?Barcode=6928317&isAv=N )

Sorry that its not more helpful, if you found out a rough location of where they were from it would be easier. He may have been born in Ireland/had Irish family who moved to London, since its an English version of an Irish name

Here's a web site where you can search for SA births, deaths and marriages. You can also apply for transcriptions of the relevant records. Do you have the birth, death & marriage transcriptions for the family? It would be worth getting the earliest ones where the data is likely to be more accurate.

Have you considered the possibility that he was some months off in his dob: :

There are two possible marriages to consider as well for possible ancestors. My great-grandmother was Mary Hurley from the Kimichael, Co. Cork area and Hurley is a very common name from that location and further west.

If you test with 23andme or FTDNA or Ancestry and upload your file to www.gedmatch.com  you have a chance of finding Hurley DNA cousins who can help pin down the location
