MA, Phinehas 15, b MA, Jerome 15, son Addison 11, and Henry 8 were b NC. Nancy M. 3 b MA and Laura  J. very young b. NH. Lydia Stevens 54 b NC completes the household. Lydia could be Enoch's older sister.

I think you maybe looking for a different Enoch L Stephens.  I have him in NC censuses in 1830, 1840, 1850, 1860 and  1870.  His wife's name was Mary Ann Tatum Stephens.  I think he may have been married prior to her.  in  1850 census he had listed 2 people, Virginia C. Stephens and a John Stephens.  Mary Ann wasn't quite old enough to be their natural mother.  I don't know if they are his children, siblings cousins or what.
