I am hoping for info on my maternal grandfather John Burke b. 1909 Doneraile, Cork, Ireland. He moved to Jersey Channel Islands in the 1930s where he married my grandmother Mary (Ann) Fitzgerald, b. 1912 also from Doneraile. I know Marys parents were John Fitzgerald and Bridget (or Delia) Mullane b. 1886, m. 1906, d. 1954 and her parents were James Mullane and Mary Riordan (Reardon) m. 1874. I believe the Fitzgerald family still have a house, maybe reside, in Doneraile and I know Marys siblings were John, Margaret(Madge), Nell who lived in Jersey, Bridget, and Josie (Johanna) these last two may have lived in Jersey too. On the Burke side very little other than my grandfather and his sister I believe were brought up in a home, probably in Doneraile. Any help most appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Matt

I found a John Burke, aged 1, in the 1911 census in Doneraile.  He is the only child living with parents Thomas and Catherine.  Here is the link:

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Cork/Doneraile/Chapel_View/428930/

you can download, for free, a copy of the census.

And, you should be able to find Thomas' parents in the parish registers available here if they were also from Doneraile:

http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0044

and this is the 1901 census that may be of interest.  You will need to research further, but, this may be John's grandparents:

Good luck and let us know how you get on with this, please?

Thanks Dale, thats great. I have found such documents but not with so much details. I will research more as suggested, this is a really difficult side of the family to research but heres hoping!
You're welcome, Matt!  Good luck!
