How can one best search for a topic or subject and get results (from Google) that do NOT include profiles?

Is free text search the only way? Many are results returned whether I use quotes or not and most are individual profiles. How else would I find out if anyone else has shown an interest in a topic? I feel like I'm missing something. My example of the moment is The Burned-Over District.

I assume you speak about

a) using Google search

b) find something on Wikitree

c) not a profile

Maybe restrict to namespace Space:
site:wikitree.com/wiki/Space: The Burned-Over District

or Category
site:wikitree.com/wiki/Category: The Burned-Over District

or G2G
site:www.wikitree.com/g2g/ The Burned-Over District

Well, sort of. It's great if you are expereinced enough to already know those are the places to look. I ran the searches you suggested above (which are cumbersome for me construct) and got some info.

Here is the WikiTree search page that leads to Google. http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:SearchPerson (Text search is #4 at the bottom.)

I am used to being able to restrict terms in quotes like "burned over district," or use Boolean searches on Google. Neither of these worked. The easiest thing would be to type the searched for phrase and restrict to NO person profiles, or something like that.

You can go to Google and do a restricted search on the wikitree site that includes all types of pages here and can include quotation marks. I have my Google search preferences to return 100 results, which makes it easier to skim the list and skip over results that don't interest me. The search string to enter in the regular Google search box should be something like these:

site:wikitree.com "burned over district"

site:wikitree.com "second great awakening"

I added "second great awakening" because this G2G is the only result I got for "burned over district."
