I have just started researching my family.  My grandfather Josiah Morgan Herbert (1877-1968) used to say that there was a connection to the Earls of Pembroke.  Margaret (Herbert) Maan

My Herbert Great Grandfather and his father also had this story. That they were heirs to a title and a castle in Wales. Turns out Lord Herbert had many illegitimate children and built manor houses and small castles to house them all in Wales. Research it or ask a Welsh person. This is well known over there. We are in N.Z.

Yes I have Herberts in my family tree.

Not many listed on my wiki tree as yet as I still have to confirm my sources.

Possibly have a James Herbert who was transported as  a criminal ( actually convicted as a highwayman ) to Australia. If this is the correct Herbert he was one of the first convict marriages there.

Don't know if this helps you because as yet I haven't seen a Welsh connection.
