Isolde (Mortimer) de Audley (1262 - 1338)

Is there a really good reason Isolde is still attached to the parents cited? With her ancestry the subject of so much debate it seems almost irresponsible that the wikitree community allow this connection to remain.

I took a look at the profile and ran the name in my search engine that I use. I can understand why you asked the question. One source popped up that her parents are Edmund de Mortimer, 2nd Baron of Mortimer of Wigmore and Margaret De Mortimer (nee De Fiennes). This source also listed her born 1270.

The other listed her as the child of Hugh De Mortimer and Agatha Mortimer (nee Ferrers). She was listed to be born in 1262.

In this situation, I would put the notations in the biography of Isolde and then disconnect the parents. I would list all sources and the differences that way no research was lost but until a strong conclusion is made, then she is disconnected. Make sure to make note of the disconnected parents wiki id's in the biography. The other thing that can be done is mark the parents "unconfident" and then list why in the biography.

Sometimes, in a situation like this, it takes someone to do the research and leave the message and then do what obviously no one wants to do. The parents can be re-added later if enough viable sources prove they are the correct parents.

Hi Dodie,

Thanks for your reply :) I did consider disconnecting her when I saw it but I don't want to step on anyone's toes. I really do think someone needs to be brave and do it though, it would be great if that were one of the profile managers. It worries me as wrong information snowballs and next minute fiction/assumptions become fact all over the internet. If Wikitree is to be credible we can't have profiles like this.
I had a similar problem with a Cooke profile. The profile was connected to the wrong father. Thankfully, with that one, I was able to find a credible source that showed that the father was incorrect and was able to disconnect it. If the profile managers are unresponsive on it when leaving them a message regarding it, then maybe a leader might be able to step in and be able to help make the changes.

I have added tags to your question to help draw attention to the members of the projects that have interest in this profile.

The profile certainly is suspect. Douglas Richardson does not list her as a child of Edmund de Mortimer.

Thank you Doug :) I wasn't sure what tags to attach so it's really appreciated.

I have a copy of the Mortimer's Of Wigmore of the family tree. On it Isolde is listed with birth year of 1291-1328, which makes more sense than anything else I've seen as her mom would be old enough to give birth to her. There are also only 10 children in the line. I haven't been able to find any other definitive information about Isolde.
