Look for family connection to Walter Cleveland Roland

Question

I am looking for a family connection btween my great-grandfather Amos Roland and Walter Cleveland (W.C.) Roland.  Amos was married to Mary (Warren) Roland.  Walter was born in 1885 and died in 1954.  He and his wife Gladys were murdered at the prison where he worked as a warden.  He had two daughters Carolyn and Marilyn from his first marriage.  What I can find on him has his last name spelled Rowland, but my grandfather spelled his name Roland.I know there is a connection, I just can not find it. That is all I can find on him but he was related to my familyon my dad's side.  I can not find out who his parents or brothers or sisters were.  Can you help?  Thanks
