Conversion of Wire Recordings to digital format?

0 votes
My 89 yo mother just unearthed a box which has lain hidden in her home for over 50 years. It contains 7 spools of wire recordings, some of which have my father speaking on them. I lost my father when I was very young so obviously I am excited about possibly hearing his voice. How does one go about getting these things converted to a digital format? All I found online were outfits that serve the professional businesses such as entertainment and I KNOW I can't afford that type of place.

Hi Rick,

I know that my father still has two of those recorders which he used to digitize recordings of my great grandmother. I can probably borrow the recorder or ask him to convert them :)  I will send you a private message so that you can contact me!

I agree 100%. You're the man, Daniel.

Rick, congratulations on finding this treasure.
Wow!  Generous only begins to describe your offer, Daniel.
It's really not a problem if you have the tape recorders :)! Getting them across the ocean for a reasonable price is another thing but I'm sure we'll find some way (for the price of a next day delivery both ways (fortunately not needed) you could probably buy a plane ticket)
