I'm looking for a female McMurtry who married a McFerran in the 1700s, probably in New Jersey/Philadelphia area.

We are McFerrans.  We keep matching McMurtry DNA.  It was suggested that there was a "non-parental event" that occurred before our John McFerren, b. 1784, Philadelphia.  We think his father was John McFerren, b 1750 in PA.  For instance, a McMurtry woman (either unmarried or a widow) with a child who married a McFerren and he 'adopted' the child, or at the least, gave it his name. We can't get back further with our McFerren, and, like I said, we keep matching McMurtry/McMurtree DNA through Ancestry.com and ftdna (Family Tree DNA).  Close matches .... 3rd -5th cousins.   And ideas or information would be appreciated.  Our John McFerren b 1784 married Clarissa Marsh b 1796 in Kent, England, on 24 Feb 1816 in Philadelphia. John McFerren b 1784 is my 3X ggrandfather.  (His son Charles B.; Charles' son George Washington; my grandmother Clara Zoe.)   Thank you.
